The Elf on the Shelf: An Elf's Story

The first, and most ambitious project that I worked on with Trick3D, I had no idea how big it would become, or how much I would enjoy working with those folks.
I was responsible for props, scene lighting, and materials in 3 or 4 different sets. I'll hopefully be able to put some shots up after the CBS premiere on Friday at 8:30pm.

AirHogs

Here's a shot of the Hawkeye Blue Sky model that I built for the Airhogs commercial. As per creative direction from Cartoon Network the plane material is supposed to be a sort of sexy, glossed styrofoam, which looks really nice, but isn't entirely true to life.

Here it is within the context of the commercial spot

Iron-Chop

A quick bit of modeling accomplished for Force Factory CG.I was charged with creating an Iron Man styled body to make a super hero out of a car salesman. Fun stuff! Concept, rigging, and render by Lane Force. Animation by the incredibly talented J Griffin.

Aquafresh Nurdles

I was brought into this project pretty late in the production to help finish up animation and meet deadlines. I was responsible for character animation on the sequences from 1:00 - 1:05, as well as character animation, additional lighting, and fabric animation from 1:13 - 1:18.

For Trick 3D - 2D/3D Visual development and backgrounds by Chadwick Halbritter, Composite and render by Lane Force, with animation by J Griffin jgriffin.org, character models, rigging and animation by Noel Perry. Final edit by Torey Haas.

Something New, Something Old.

The fruit of my zbrush labor, this marks the first time I've used that program to model/texture/retopologize/export. It's extremely fun to play around, though the interface and workflow take a whole lot of getting used to.

These are a few of the models I created in my time working with Computer Sciences Corporation and  Lockheed Martin.

Transformers: DotM promo

Another spot completed for Cartoon Network while contracting at Trick3D. I pulled duty modeling and animating the mechanical elements, as well as some pre-comping to hand-off to Jim Chappell (JimChappellCreative.com) for his AfterEffects wizardry. Moon environment and camera animation was accomplished by Lane Force (forcefactorycg.com).

Beyblades 30 second spot

I functioned as part of a two-man team freelancing with Trick3D on this project, I was responsible for building and animating the Beyblades for the opening hero shots, and the animated tagline at the end. Some rejected hero blades found new life as wireframe background elements in Jim Chappell's awesome AfterEffects composite.

Camera Tracking Experiment

Just what it says, this was a quick test that I put together to try out 3DS Max's built-in camera tracking. I used my little Canon Powershot G9, shooting at a stunning 15fps, clearly high end stuff. All in all it didn't turn out too bad considering it was a few hours worth of work with only 5 tracking objects.

Rendered with Vray, Composite in AfterEffects, Model from Turbosquid.
